Care for what is changing

Perimenopause can begin years before your final period, and there is no single lab test that defines the experience. We start with your symptoms, cycles, history and goals, then use testing when it will meaningfully guide care.

For all care, we also look at lifestyle factors like diet, sleep, movement, and supplements or medications when indicated.

What to expect

  1. First visit

    Evaluation

Your clinician takes a full history of your symptoms, cycles, sleep, mood and medical background. The diagnosis is clinical.

  2. Where useful

    Labs

Testing is ordered when it can answer a clinical question or guide treatment, including thyroid and metabolic testing. A single lab value does not confirm or rule out perimenopause.

  3. Together

    Treatment options

Hormone therapy is one of the options discussed. Whether it is appropriate is a clinical decision made together, based on your history and what matters to you.

  4. Alongside

    Pelvic and metabolic health

Genitourinary symptoms, bone health and body composition are treated in the same practice.

  5. Ongoing

    Follow-up

Treatment is reviewed and adjusted as your symptoms change.

Strength matters here.

As hormones change, strength and resistance training become even more important for muscle, bone and metabolic health. Movement is not an add-on to this season; it is part of caring for it.

Questions, answered

How do I know if I’m in perimenopause?

Perimenopause is usually identified by your age, cycle changes, symptoms and medical history, not one hormone test. Sleep, mood, temperature, libido and cycle changes can all be part of the picture.

Can perimenopause start in my 30s?

It can. Timing varies, and symptoms that may be related to perimenopause still deserve a full evaluation rather than being dismissed based on age alone.

Do you prescribe hormone therapy?

Yes, when it is clinically appropriate. Your provider will review your symptoms, history, risks, preferences and alternatives with you before deciding on a treatment plan together.

What if my hormone labs are normal?

Normal labs do not automatically explain or rule out your symptoms. We look at the full clinical picture and use testing to answer specific questions when it can change care.

Can menopause care be virtual?

Yes. Many visits are available virtually across North Carolina, with in-person appointments in Carolina Beach when needed.
