Weight is evaluated as a medical problem with contributing causes, not as a matter of effort.

Evaluation

Your clinician takes a full history, including weight history, cycles, sleep, medications, and family history. Laboratory testing includes fasting glucose and insulin, hemoglobin A1c, lipids, and thyroid function, with additional testing as indicated.

Treatment

Treatment is built from the evaluation. It may include nutrition and activity planning, treatment of thyroid or hormonal contributors, metformin, and GLP-1 medication when it is indicated and appropriate for you.

Medication is prescribed with monitoring. Follow-up visits track response, side effects, and laboratory values on a set schedule.

GLP-1 medication

GLP-1 medications are prescribed after evaluation, when clinical criteria are met. Your clinician reviews eligibility, contraindications, expected effects, and cost, including whether your plan covers the medication.

We do not prescribe on request without an evaluation.

Coordinated care

Metabolic conditions are managed alongside gynecologic and hormonal care in the same practice. Movement programming at Embody Movement Studio can be incorporated into your plan.

Common questions

Is metabolic care covered by insurance?

Visits for metabolic conditions are billed to insurance where it applies. Embody Health is in network with most major insurance plans. Self-pay pricing is available.

Is GLP-1 medication covered?

Coverage varies by plan and by indication. Many plans require prior authorization or do not cover GLP-1 medication for weight management. We check your coverage before prescribing and discuss self-pay options where applicable.

Do I need labs before starting medication?

Yes. Baseline laboratory testing is required before starting metabolic medication, and follow-up testing is scheduled during treatment.

Can this be done virtually?

Most visits can be virtual. In-person appointments are available when an examination is needed.

Do you treat PCOS-related weight gain?

Yes. PCOS and insulin resistance are evaluated and treated together, with gynecologic and metabolic care in the same visit.
